Brass Garden LightingBrass lights with a sandblasted finish typically weather to an ochre colour which goes well with decking and stone. Polished brass tends to weather less predictably to a darker finish and is not widely used in garden lighting. Useful features of brass garden lights are that they are heavy enough not to be disturbed easily and are as tough as old boots – corrosion proof even on the sea shore as well as proof against impact. So brass garden lights such as the Elipta brass spike spot or the Amphibian range of recessed lights are a good choice where family pets or footballs may disturb lighter weight garden lights, and are the best choice if you have an urban fox problem. Elipta’s Compact spotlight range is the most comprehensive range of brass wall spotlights and downlights on the market, featuring a fine sandblasted finish which looks great on stone walls as well as the ability to use the latest energy saving lamps. Surface mounted steplights such as the M2066 eyelid or M2067 grill model also feature a sandblasted finish to look good on sandstone and buff brick. Brass is one of the best materials for underwater lighting, being mechanically robust and resistant to all chemicals as well as heavy enough not to be disturbed easily by fish or water currents. The M2500 Nautilus 20-50 watt underwater light is made from cast brass, pressure-tested during manufacture and available with frosted lens or internal glare louvre options. It is supplied with a U bracket for fixing to underwater mounting blocks or supports, but it can also be used without the bracket as a waterproof uplight set into cobbles over a reservoir, or even used in bog gardens or waterlogged areas as a recessed light. Optional heavy mounting base and mounting spike assist location on planting shelves or in planting baskets. One of the best black underwater lights is the Nautilus M2502BLA , made of cast brass and powder-coated black, it is fitted with a glare shield for locations where you need to ensure the origin of the light beam is hidden from view and to provide some glare prevention in “walk-around” fountains. While BEL offers its bollard lights (Onyx, Nobus and Atlantic) in polished brass, many clients prefer the BEL bronze bollard lights option which is a permanent brushed finish and doesn't weather, so they stay the same attractive finish from day 1. |
