Downlights and wall spotlights
Typically, if a garden light is called a downlight it will be for fixed downlighting, i.e. without adjustment, for installation on a wall, beam or pillar, such as Elipta's E4311 stainless steel downlight, which is also available in black (E4331) or copper (E4321).
Some outdoor lights are combination up & downlights with two lamps lighting in opposite directions, usually a creative way of lighting house walls, such as Elipta's E4421 in copper -also available in black (E4431) and stainless steel (E4411). Wall Spotlights are usually taken to be adjustable types of garden lights so you can focus the light at an angle toward an object or area; Elipta's black E4231 is both compact and inexpensive. It is also available in copper (E4221) and 316 stainless steel (E4211) versions and has a companion twin wall spot in a choice of materials.
12v MR16 lamps are available in a wide choice of wattages from 10 to 50 watts and beam angles from 12 to 60 degrees, which gives a wide choice in accurately and precisely garden lighting subjects without spill or glare. 12 volt spotlights are usually used in garden structures as flexible cabling makes them easier to install. 240v GU10 lamps offer a smaller range of choice, mainly in medium beam angles, but can be directly wired to mains cabling on house walls. Most Elipta wall mount spotlights and downlights are available in both 12v (MR16) and 240v (GU10) versions.
