Floodlights

The most common floodlights are 240v halogen 500w outdoor lights used mainly for security purposes, but rarely used for garden lighting as they are hot and blast light into the sky in an indiscriminate way. In creative garden lighting, we use 240v floodlights which have more controlled beams and are more energy efficient, such as the Pier series of metal halide uplights and garden floodlights, which can light large trees without much light pollution or wasted energy. Some low voltage garden floodlights such as Megabay's 75w Quinto offer a 12v alternative; the Quinto provides a wide, flat and even beam for "wall washing" hedges and dense shrub groups.
