Underwater lighting
Megabay's Nautilus underwater lights make up one of the best underwater lighting ranges anywhere in the world. The M2500 20-50 watt underwater light is made from cast brass, pressure-tested during manufacture and available with frosted lens or internal glare louvre or colour filter options. It is supplied with a "U" bracket for fixing to underwater mounting blocks or supports, but it can also be used without the bracket as a waterproof uplight set into cobbles over a reservoir, or even used in bog gardens or waterlogged areas as a recessed garden light. Optional heavy mounting base and mounting spike assist location on planting shelves or in planting baskets. The heavier weight of brass underwater lights means they are less likely to be disturbed than lighter weight aluminium underwater lights. Nautilus is also available with a grill (M2501), glare shield (M2502), or eyelid (M2503 - good for lighting along rills!)
Megabay's companion recessed lights - Nautilus 35w, Amphibian 50w and Quo Vadis 75w are IP68 rated for use in water features, bog gardens, or even in riverside gardens prone to occasional flooding.
One of the best black underwater lights is the Nautilus M2502BLA, made of cast brass and powder-coated black is fitted with a glare shield for locations where you need to ensure the origin of the light beam is hidden from view and to provide some glare prevention in "walk-around" fountains. The heavier weight of brass underwater lighting means they are less likely to be disturbed than lighter weight aluminium underwater lights.
For modern water features where underwater lighting may be very visible, such as tiled or mosaic ponds, the Elipta E4811 stainless steel underwater lights may be preferred for their smart modern appearance. All Lighting for Gardens brass and stainless steel underwater lights are fitted with a 6 metre cable and accept an MR6 lamp up to 50w for underwater use - but if you use them out of water fit a maximum wattage lamp of 35w.
The new generations of higher power led garden lighting include several options for underwater lighting use. The Omnyx range includes recessed as well as surface-, base and spike mounted 1 Luxeon watt led garden lights which are IP68 rated for underwater use and are available in a range of colours. ME Lighting's Barrel range extends the choice for led underwater lighting up to 3w and 5w, also in a range of colours as well as white and warm white. At the low end of the power scale of led underwater garden lighting, the quirky Button range is a great way of introducing splashes or pinpoints of light into a pebble pool. When specifying led underwater lights, we suggest you order the optional 6m cable as underwater joints should always be avoided.
