At first glance, many garden spike spotlights look almost identical.
Same shape. Same finish. Same lamp.
But once they’re installed and exposed to real garden conditions, the differences start to show.
Our spike spotlights are made of high-quality materials such as Natural Copper, 316 Stainless Steel and Powder-coated Aluminium. We design our spike lights specifically for long-term use in gardens and not just general outdoor environments. That means focusing on the details that aren’t always visible at first but make a big difference over time.

Built to Stay Strong
A spike spotlight should hold its position — simple as that.
In softer soil or planting areas, shorter spikes can become loose, causing the light to tilt or shift over time. This not only affects the look of the lighting but also the accuracy of the beam.
Our spike is designed to provide a more secure fit in the ground, helping the light stay exactly where it’s placed. Once installed, it keeps its position with minimal adjustment.
Designed to Reduce Glare
The position of the lamp within a spike spotlight has a big impact on how the light feels in the space.
If the lamp sits too close to the front of the fitting, it can create unnecessary glare — particularly when viewed from seating areas or along pathways.
Our spike spotlights are designed with a more recessed light source. This helps:
- Reduce glare
- Soften the beam
- Create a more comfortable, professional lighting effect
It’s a small design detail that makes a noticeable difference in the finished result.
The Cable: What You Don’t See Matters Most
One of the biggest differences in a garden light isn’t visible at all — the cable.
Standard rubber cables commonly used in outdoor lighting can struggle in garden conditions. Over time, exposure to moisture, temperature changes, and soil can cause the insulation to degrade.
This can lead to:
- Electrical leakage
- RCD tripping
- Premature failure
We’ve experienced these issues in the past, which is why we moved away from standard cable types.
Our spike spotlights now use a custom hybrid cable, developed specifically for long-term garden use. It’s designed to maintain its insulating properties and perform reliably over time, even in demanding conditions.
Made for Real Garden Environments
Gardens are tougher environments than many people realise.
Between constant moisture, UV exposure, temperature fluctuations, and general maintenance, outdoor fittings are under continuous stress.
That’s why our spike spotlights are designed with durability in mind; not just how they look when first installed, but how they perform years later.
We’ve seen fittings still performing well after several years in the ground, maintaining both their function and appearance.
Material and Environment
Our spike lights are made from powder-coated aluminium, chosen for its durability and clean finish in most garden settings.
As with any aluminium fitting, performance can vary depending on the environment. Coastal areas or gardens with heavy use of acidic fertilisers can reduce the lifespan of surface finishes over time.
That said, in typical garden conditions, a well-made fitting should continue to perform reliably for years.
A Different Approach to Garden Lighting
When comparing spike spotlights in particular, it’s easy to focus on how they look out of the box.
But the real difference comes from how they’re designed — and how they perform after installation.
From stability and glare control to cable quality and long-term reliability, every detail plays a part.
That’s why our spike spotlights are made differently — to deliver consistent performance in real garden conditions, not just on day one, but well into the future.
